Adults keep in touch with children who have moved on and where appropriate still offer them direct support. Through this they have supported children in terms of gaining employment, undertaking training and moving into their own places. Children have returned to A Life Explored after moving on to their own place to celebrate birthdays, Christmas, and other meaningful events during the year.
We have a small Care at Home/Housing Support Service 'A Future Explored' that allows us to provide Aftercare Support for our children who have lived with us, ensuring the trusting relationships established follow children through the transition from childhood to adulthood and onwards through their lives.
The young woman you see here lived with us and shared several years of her life with us. She continues to be supported through our aftercare and "keep in touch approach. She wrote an inspirational poem about some of her experiences and successes. Sonny Carntyne arranged the words and put it to music giving our girl the opportunity to record her words and experience the power of relationships continuing after being in care. This young woman's journey is just one of many we are honoured to be a part of. You can hear the song if you click play the under the artwork .... |
Two of our kids met up again a year after they had lived together, they shared many laughs and memories of their time. We keep in touch with all our kids who have lived with us in different ways and ensure they know that someone is keeping them in mind. If we are to support our children to trust adults after difficult starts in life it is important that we commit to those relationships to ensure that our kids do not enter another cycle of relationships that end. |
